Passion Press: Dancing Through Life
The next passion that I am sharing has occupied decades of my life…which is wild to say because I am still young!

Dance
Dancing has been a constant in my life. From ballet recitals as a toddler to competitions in middle school, choreographing in high school and college, making the college dance team, and just messing around dancing in the kitchen, dance has quite literally been my life.
I loved getting all dressed up in my costumes and makeup to perform on stage, feel the heat from the spotlight glare, blurring out the audience’s faces as I dazzled them with my moves. Maybe this is why I like being the center of attention??
Dance has been such a comfort for me. I would drop into classes when I was stressed about school or when I felt anxious or alone. My dance teacher in high school instilled that our dance academy was a safe space (shoutout Ms. Jo!), and it’s always held a special place in my heart.
I feel like that chick in High School Musical, “I love to pop and lock and jam and break!” But I do! I won’t lie, it hasn’t been easy getting back into dance post-injury (and as a 30-year-old). It’s been a re-learning curve on what my body can handle, what feels right, and how I move now. I know I’m not alone in that but I am still grateful the outlet dance has given me.
I took my first hip hop in about 3 years recently, and it was so fun! I felt so comfortable moving around, and that light inside lit all the way up!
